Not really but you do get more rattle in a cab. 02 has glass in back window which lasts longer and require no maint. If you are looking for a cab, I'd strongly recommend a 02+. The additional money is well worth it considering you get 3.6L, better looks & aerodynamics, better interior, better top, Bose option, better sounding stock exhaust.

You do know about RMS right? Manual tranny failure is also very expensive. These are common issues amongst 996 and 997 and not just cabs. If either is unfamiliar to you, do a search.
This makes 02 more attractive as there is still a bit of warranty left on 02. BTW, you cannot fit a top w glass into a 99-01 cab. No such retrofit exists yet.

Found out the hard way that there is an issue with many of the plastic back windows ....2001 will have one. The lower edge, horizontal glue seam ... the one keeping the top fabric lying flush against the plastic window .... has worked loose in some cabs. (at least enough so that the dealer and the top shop were very familiar with the issue when I drove up).
This does not open the car to the outside, but does serve as a 3" deep scoop to collect leaves and rain water. Looks like some sort of air scoop as you scoot down the road.
Apparently, it cannot repaired. Cost me a new aftermarket top (with sewn in window vice glued in). The installer said he had heard of one shop that would remove the old top, sew around the window to close this up and then reinstall top. I did not think that to be a good idea.
If you take a 2001 with any remaining warranty, or a Porsche certified extended warranty, then check to see if this would be covered.
