C2 or C4 Cab
Ok, I've got all the options selected for a 2003 Carrera Cab: SG, full black leather, PSM, Hd Seats, Bose, pwr seats, 18" Carrera wheels.
But I can't decide on a Cab C2 or C4. Car will be a 2nd, fun car (to 4WD MB E320) in the Northeast. Price difference is about $5 K. Assuming I simply won't take the car out in bad weather, is there a reason I should go for the C4? Is the steering noticibly heavier on the C4? Does the C2 feel lighter and easier to drive? Is the C4 worth the loss of trunk space (what little there is!)? Difference in resale?
What should I do??

I have MY01 C4 Cab. in Canada (NW). C4 is good in the rain, but is heavier car & I feel not quite as responsive starting out. Resale in Canada I guess would get 60% of the $8k CDN. extra I put in.
If I'm disciplined enough not to drive my P in bad weather I wouldn't buy a C4. My next P won't be a C4, unless it's a C4S for styling, not function!

I have an 02 C4 and it is a comfort thing with me. Live in the NE and don't drive it after the first snow because of salt and sand on roads. I suppose a C4 would help in certain instances, but if I had it to do over again I would get the C2, but would option it like I optioned my C4. Since your interior is black you might want to consider some alum or CF pieces for the interior to break up the "all black look" (unless you want a stealth car). Mine is AS/Met Blue, but I have CF wheel, **** and brake handle; and AS painted console. Also installed the Bird armrest. I'm a cosmetic guy as opposed to an engine mod guy for I like the look. And I understand that in 03 all options will be unbundled so you can pick and choose aesthetics. Go with the C2, save the weight and put the money into sport exhaust, improved air flow and cosmetics.Just my .02

If you like better balance, more grip, and a secure steering feel, you'll like the C4. As for storage space, I simply use the backseat for medium sized stuff.

I like the rear drive Porsches better. I mean no insult to any C4 owners, but the C4's understeer WAY more than my C2. Yes, the front end is heavier, which is not a bad thing at all. The C4's are more rare than a C2 and harder to come by in most cases. I drive my 99C2 coupe all year long. As long as you understand you have 300hp and rear drive, and drive it responsibly you should be OK. Good Luck on your decision.

Thats funny, because In my experience with the '99-'01 cars, the C4 is more neutral than the C2, which understeers more. This is of course with both cars having standard suspension and the same tires. Other people I have talked to who have experience with both have expressed the same finding. I even recall some auto journalist declaring that it was the first C4 to handle better than it's rear-wheel drive counterpart.

much preffer the c2 as the traditional feeling of
having to power the car thru corners from the rear wheels is part of the sensation of a 911. as its my daily driver and if we have snow ice would seriously think abt the c4.

I just bought my first Porsche three months ago. It's a 2000 C4 Cab (Triple Black) and I absolutely love it. I've only driven a C2 a couple of times for test drives, but the C4 drives and handles so well I can't imagine the C2 being much better. I figured the C4 only cost a couple of thousand dollars more and if it helps prevent me from losing control of a $80k car it will be worth it!
Just my $.02!

I went in to buy a C4 or C4S, but was told 8 month wait at least, however they had a C2 slot I could get into right then. I decided not to wait and I've been really happy with the C2. Got PSM, 18" Carrera wheels and Sport Suspension amomg other things. It's great on the track!!!!
