Question Help - Headlight removal

I took my headlights out, because I was replacing my front bumper cover. I put the lights back, but I don't think they're 'locked' in place. I tried to follow the directions in the owner's manual, but I didn't notice any audible 'locking' sound when I was pushing them back in and turning the headlight tool. What have I done wrong? Can someone explain how to do it properly and what I should be looking/listening for?

there is a big locking clunk that it makes when you twist the tool. Make sure you have them seated all the way back and make sure you are turning it the right way. Also you don't have to take the headlights out to take the bumper on and off.

I realized after removing the bumper cover that removing the headlights wasn't required, but the instructions I followed suggested removing them.

I'll try again, but when I tried turning the tool it just kept clicking (turning either way) but no "Klunk".

Paul,
with the headlamp out, take a look at the little cam - make sure it's "up" as you slide the lamp housing in, then turn the "key"....

Do not know if this is your problem but but some headlight tools I have seen are a sloppy fit and will not lock the headlight. I use a 5 mm 6 point socket. See if that makes any difference. Jeff

It turns out that the multi-pin socket that the light plugs into was damaged and needs to be replaced and rewired. Also, the bracket that the light locks into had some damage too.

Oh well, they've covered it under warranty. I'll finally get my car back on Monday.
