Question 996 C4S brakes on a C2 (& other mods)

I have been bitten by the upgrade bug and looking to add some performance to my 1999 996 C2, which I've owned since late 2001. The basic mod I am looking to add is the Evolution Motorsports Supercharger. I think I've also settled on Bilstein PSS9s as well. Still thinking about brakes. Everyone wants to sell me a Brembo kit, but these are outrageous from a price perspective. I have an opportunity to pick up some a set of calipers & rotors from a 2003 Carrera 4S at a very attractive price. Any thoughts on the relative benefits of the S brakes vs. Brembos? Are the S brakes bolt on, or are other mods necessary? Any thoughts or insights are appreciated. Thanks

Nope. What you need is better pads not larger calipers and rotors. Trust me, you are nowhere near the threshold of the capability of your current C2 brakes....they are remarkable and weigh less. Why would you want to add more unsprung weight anyway? Bigger brakes does not necessarily mean better braking.

What Dell said. To use the C4S/GT2/GT3 brakes, you have to change out a LOT of parts (think Brembo kit $$). Play with pads--cheaper and weigh less. Unless, you primarily track, stick with the ones you have and maintain them well. If you really want to stop better, get stickier rubber.

Thanks. Sounds like the view is that Brembos or C4S brakes are not worth the $$. Must be high margin items, because everyone likes to sell them! Any recommendations on pads, primarily for street use?

FYI...brakes are Brembo's on the car already.

The rears on a C4S/Turbo are the fronts on a C2/C4.
