Finally got into a 911!
I know this topic has come up before...but bear with me. I have searched the history on how to turn the daytime running lights on and the fuse jumper is a great easy fix....but, what exactly does the dealer do differently that they charge 2 hours labour totalling $200 Cdn. Is it 100X better solution? Does jumping fuses do any harm? Any insight to this would be great.
My 2001 C4 now has 20,000 miles and the seat heat fuse "links" to enable DRLs (5W headlight assembly bulbs and parking/street/tail) is still working fine and no detrimenatl effects insofar as I know.
Been trying to figure out how to disable the DRL's myself, but still keep the rear license plate lights on. I don't understand it. Why is the US version wired differently than the Canadian version of this car with respect to the license plate light? Makes no sense so I just use the DRL's. Whatever.
wwest, thanks for the reply. Practically speaking, I guess that's all I really needed to know. Why complicate things if I don't have to. Fuse "linking' is what i'll do. Thanks again.
I will tell you what little I know since I'm in the US. Our cars are missing a double relay, a relay that is twice the size of the others. You cannot just plug in the relay and have thing work because the socckets where the relay plugs into are not wired. The relay tray is removed and wired. That takes time.
most people prefer to disable the DRL's... Why do you want them on?
Most of us with common sense, even only an iota thereof, recognize that any small thing that potentially increases our life's duration is worth the effort.
If you're worried about the energy consumed that convert all the DRL "functions" to LEDs as I did.

Is energy really a concern? I mean do batteries and alternators last longer on cars without DRL's?... does Bhp reduce?....is fuel consumption an issue?
