Default Ratcheting sound when I turn on turn signal and turn wheel

My 1999 c2 has developed this problem. when I turn my turn signal on for a right turn, the steering wheel makes a really loud ratcheting sound (not the normal mild sound as you turn the wheel)if turned either to the left or right until the signal turns off.
Any thoughts what this might be and the fix for it?
Thanks In Advance.

I have this same problem on my 99 C2, let me know if you hear anything on this or if you had it fixed.

I had this on my 993, the dealer found a worn part in the steering column and it was a quick fix

when i took it to the local porsche mechanic- they spent some time with it- they ended up having to change out an entire part of the turn signal assembly. They actually put in a new one under extended warranty and that did the trick. apparently, it is a common problem on the 99's
good luck and let me know if i can be of further assistance.
