This is not entirely correct. There's an alternative speed hack that simply involves the cutting of a wire, which can easily be reconnected.

Instructions Here

Raising the e-brake lever "1-click," does not engage the brake, it adds a safeguard from the top from accidently being activated over 25 mph.

When I did mine the SmartTop was not available. I use a TouchTop module combined with the speed hack, similar to the banntech, it works great. Though if it were available when I did mine, I probably would have gone the SmartTop route.

Actually it is correct, but really don't care since I have the Smartop there is no need for me to do either. And this is not aimed at you since you didn't have a choice. The entire point of the post(s) was to inform those that are deciding between the 2 different units and what each entails. Maximimum information is the best in making an informed individual decision.

So, then there are 2 different hacks for the speed cutout.....1 is the breaking of a pin in a relay and the other is wire cutting. NIETHER THAT I CARE TO DO SINCE NEITHER CAN PREVENT TOP OPERATION AT SPEED ABOVE 25mph!

As for the ebrake 1 click workaround, I never said that it engages the brake itself, I said that you must engage the e-brake 1 click to get the light to illuminate. Still a 1/2ass way around what the Smartop does.

As we have always said though 'round here......to each his own. Totally respect your opinion Rob, but not when you claim I am incorrect. Better to add to the post that there is an alternate method than claiming somebody is incorrect.

Thanks Rob for the compliments!......

As for the Touchtop/Bahntech vs. Smartop debate:

Sure am glad that we can have differnet explanations without flaming one antother. Although some on this board sure think that is the approach to take. I'll never understand that. It all comes down to respecting one another's opinion. Some get it, some don't.
