i did a quick search for the switch this morning. i assumed it was on the floor but nothing there? my car is an 03... thanks

Gents,

The switch is not on the floor. Move your seat rearward, remove the floormat and take a good look at the clutch pedal lever and the area around the pivot / hinge point. The switch is located up there. There is the possibility that it has come loose or dislodged so as to make closing the switch more difficult. It does disengage the cruise control on my '03 TT when you depress the clutch.

It's at the top of the pedal.
