Default 18" Wheel Confusion

Sorry for the Novice question here, but I'm confused about a wheel application and have very little experience with anything but stock applications. I did some searching here and on the 997 board, but only confused myself more. I know that on the 997 18" wheels are:
Front: 57 mm
Rears: 58 mm

And on the 996 18" wheels are:
Front: 50 or 52 mm
Rears: 63 or 65 mm

Can I run the stock 18" from the 997 on a '00 cab? If so, do I need spacers to do so?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Nick

You could if they have the same bolt pattern. It would be like running your 996 wheels with 5-7mm spacers in front and 5-7mm spacers in rear. Almost like getting the spacers for free! I run the Teq 5MM spacers and feel that is the perfect size. Some run as must as 17 in the rear so you would be just fine as long as the bolt pattern fits. Sorry I don't know the answer to that but hopefully somebody can chime in.

Thanks Dell! Bolt pattern looks to be the same (5x130) so I think that I'll be alright. Might go ahead with this, unless anyone can point out a reason not to...

Actually, that is the opposite on the front. The 997 wheels will be in by 5 to 7mm. You may run into brake clearance problems. Plan on spacers for the front. I assume the widths you're talking are the same.

Just noticed that. Thanks for the catch arenared! The only way to to find out is if anybody has actually done or try and let your dealer "test" fit one to see if it can work.

But......if the bolt pattern is the same, then a simple 7mm spacer up front brings it back to the factory spec of 50.

Thanks guys! That's exactly why I asked... Back to deliberation on the wheels...

You might also want to guesstimate how much clearance is between your factory wheels and calipers. A lot depends on the exact shape of the spokes, but that should give you an idea. Our cars have big brakes.
