Default Advice Needed on running 295 backs on factory 5 star

can i run 295's on the stock 5 star 18x10? my car came with 285's...how would this work out and how about the ride. I am afraid the tire is a little too wide for the 10" rim. Any input would be great. thanks in advance.

There is a lot of variability among tire manufacturers/lines of tires. I have 285 Dunlops that are wider than 295 Pirellis. Check TireRack for the recommended wheel widths for a good reference. I would try to stick to a similar part of the recommended wheel width range as you are running in the front. Otherwise, the difference between a 285 and 295 is usually pretty small. Load ratings are probably more important.

I am going to run the 295's on mine. I have previously run 295's on the turbo technology rims with pirelli p zero (yellow) 140 compouds, however I had stock suspension. I will let you know thursday how it is all around 235/295 ps2's

If your car is a C4, don't do it.

car is a C2 996-02, not turbo or C4 or S

I have brand new 295's which are really meant for 10.5 to 11 inch back, and i beleive the porsche stock 5 star is 10 inch. The car came with 285-30-18 Pirelli P zero rosso, i have had to change one rear at a time every 3000 miles, now i have my michelin tires from my other rims that i want to use. the fronts are perfect stock size, but the backs are 295 instead of the 285.... what do you guys think?

Again, compare the specs at TireRack. I don't know what Michelins you have, but likely they are stickier than the Rossos, so you may have more of a tendency towards understeer. If it's like my Boxster, though, fiddle with the tire pressures a little will get things back into shape. BTW, why do you have to change one rear at a time every 3K miles?

Find a GT3 owner that will lend you a 315. It looks like it would fit, but no guaranty.

seem to always wear out one tire at a time in the back....must be with the traction...the rosso are way to soft...
