You'll reduce the value of the car by a couple of thousand at least if you trade it in. In private sale, most people won't be able to tell unless they have it professionally inspected.

I had my car repainted and it looked a million times better than the factory paint, but it still reduced its value.

To the original thread poster: What kind of blemish is in the paint? Why need to repaint the whole car? If it's a bumper only, your lost of resell should be 1-2k at most. If whole car, you are looking at $5-7k loss in value. Did you agree to buy the car in such condition? A good detailer can do wonders while body shop just don't know how to fix it except respray. I'd get a good detailer to look at it before respray.

They will have to have the car for two weeks! What should I do?

Thanks for you input.
Who tried to buff it out at your Dealer? If it was just their detailing guys, I would take my car to guys who specialize in this type of repair. In MD the franchise is called "Colors on Parade" and they have specialists who visit many Dealerships to do touch-up work on a weekly basis. Ask your Dealer if they have some specialist that they use and if they do, I'm certain that they will be able to remove the blemishes. This is assuming that you don't have many blemishes. If the blemishes are all over your car, I'd get it repainted.

The C2 was a car that had been at the dealer lot. I was looking at getting another Boxster when I saw it. It was an '04 that had not yet been sold and it had the options I was interested in for the Boxster. I decided on a whim to test drive it and I was blown away!! The car was not detailed but I made them an offer and bought the car. I live 100 miles away from the dealer and picked it up several days later. I was so excited I didn't look closely at the paint (just wanted to drive!!!). Got home and my wife said to there was something wrong with the paint. Fifty or so splotches all over the car. I had some kind of protective coating applied to protect the car and I thing they did that prior to getting the car paint totally ready. I called the dealer and dropped it off. Picked it up after hours and the spots were still there. Took it back and they looked at it again and said the only thing that could be done was to paint the car (4K but insured).

I think that I will try a private detailer or call Porsche customer service.
