Default 996 Pricing - What do you think?

I am looking to purchase a 2002 996 in the Fall/Winter. I am seeing pricing come in a bit but certainly not as much as I had anticipated. It seems as though the pre-2002 models have really taken a tumble but the 2002 are holding fairly strong.

Do you think it will be possible to purchase an 2002 Coupe with under 25k miles and optioned reasonably for around $45k this winter? The 2001's can be had for that at the moment but I really want the 2002.......

Maybe near 50 or so. Where are you in NJ?

I am in Monmouth county NJ. If they are closer to $50k that would mean around a $10k premium from the 2001 models, pretty hefty. A 2001 can be had for $43-$45 right now so I would think it would sink to $40k'ish by this winter.

How about the Cayman release? I would think this would knock down pricing on used 996's as well. When is the release date?

No, I think you will have to budget for $50k.

The pre-02 models have been in freefall lately (i pulled mine from the market b/c i got tired of everybody and their brother offering 20K for it, that and i have no compelling reason to sell other than wanting a race car). That said it is just a matter of time before the 02+ start rapidly depreciation. If i were you i would do 1 or 2 things. 1. Buy the car you want and not worry about it, or wait until they are in the mid 40's for a decent car.
When they will be in the mid-40's is anyones guess right now and has a lot to do with supply and demand (996 are flooding the market right now) and what it takes to get in one (intrest rates, risiduals, etc.)
My 2 cents and along with almost everybody here am not in the auto dealer industry.
