What about the C4S 997?

I was looking at the same type of thing. 997, GT3, or TT, with the latter two being CPOd. The tech at my dealer gave me his 997 differences book and there is a world of change between the 996 and the 997. So much that I didn't even want to drive a 997 since I'd want to get rid of my O2C2.

Since I DE a lot I was also looking at the GT3 and TT.

Long story short..... I got a CPO GT3. Adjustable suspension, 390 HP and lots of the stuff I have already aquired for the 996 will still fit, and race type brakes. The rears are the same as the fronts on a 996 C2. The fronts are 6 piston! All these changes make the car transcendant.

The car is blindingly fast. I'm gonna hafta learn how to drive all over again! It will be all the car I need for the next few years!

I was in the same boat...Had an 00 C2 and almost boughta 40th once they started discounting them 18k...That was a good deal for the 40th pkg.

They are so close that I am sure the driver would make the only difference not the car..I opted for the 997 based on the interior comfort and slightly newer body...

That's a tuffy,...I like the looks of my car a whole lot better, but the 25 extra hp. on the newer version is tempting, but unlike the 996 it shares the chassis, suspension, brakes and wheels with the C4 and not the turbo (mags. agree the turbo will be even wider). If I am changing my car, it will be for one that's even more track oriented, a 996 gt3 or may be even the 40th. But, I'll wait till I have difficulty passing the zo6's and turbo's at the tracks.

I am going throught a similar process: sold my 02 996 cab and now I am debating between 997 S, tt or 40th anniversary. My oppinion is that the best value is the tt or the 40th anniversary, but I tested a new 997s and I have to honestly said that the car makes the 996 look and feel old. I haven't try a tt (will do this afternoon) so I can not comment on that. By the way, the 2 things that got my attention the most in the 997 were the interior (very well put toghether) and the handling feeling

I would go for a newer car just for the interior.

I've had an 02 996 and now have 05 997. The 997 is just prettier IMO but I think the 996 looked more modern/agressive. I definitely liked the steering feel of the 996 better than my 997. I also preferred the pedal placement/feel of the 996. Everything else I like in the 997 better.

I think it's obvious that Porsche is reaching out to a larger non-sports car market with the 997 or even the 996 for that matter. Just look at their advertising. In the east coast Porsche use to run a commercial showing an elementary school girl who would deliberately be late for the school bus, so that her father would have to give her a ride to school in his Porsche 911.
