Here’s my Ipod install;
I used a Belkin power cable for the Ipod. The Belkin plug has a female end for a mini-plug that you can use for audio out to the receiver and it will all tuck behind the dash nice and clean. I bought a generic cigarette lighter socket from the auto parts store and connected that behind the dash using the Telephone power cable 5001.524-276 from Becker connecting the power to the lighter to the IGNITION hot, that way it wont be powering the Ipod all the time thus draning the battery.
I then used the cable from Becker, 1319.116-276 to connect AUX to the receiver. I encountered a buzz, so I also installed a ground loop isolator, # 270-054 from Radio Shack.
As far as a mount, I bought a leather one on Ebay from Pods Plus and the back has a flap that holds on by friction.
Well, there you have it. It is a very simple and effective way to do it.
Good Luck
Tom

Nice - you should paint the cable black. I wish I could do that.. I have a MOST (fiber optic bus) Porsche and you cannot do jack with it... I miss my ipod while in the car.

Yup, direct wired and sounds great. And 60 gig of music is wayyyyy better than 6 cd's in a changer. As for the cable, yeah I could paint it black but it really doesn't bother me.

Riozilla,
I did a wired mod in my 40th. Ran into a few issues but the sound is as good as it gets given the P's "Hi Fi" system and its acoustics.
If you want more info let me know as I put a pdf file together on it as I was getting too many questions on getting the bugs (EMI and limitations in the P's amp) ironed out.
Simple job.
