02 996 price check
I am looking at a 02 996, 36K miles for $52,000. I checked car fax, the vehicle was a lease vechicle before and two owner since then. There was no service recipt, just the service record from car fax. The car is still under warranty for more 10 month. The car is very clean, appear to has no body work. The clutch need to replace soon and the wheel need to be fixed. I am sure will send the car for PPI, but is this car price right?

Sounds a little steep with that mileage and the work it needs. If you can get it for $52K WITH repaired wheels AND a new clutch it might be a better deal.
Aside from that, a lease owner PLUS two owners since then is strange. That means chances are the lease came up in either '04 (which means each subsequent owner only kept it less than a year or so) or '05 (which means it's chaged hands twice this year after the lease came up). That's odd.
No service records for a newer Porsche like this? Odd again.
You know those car ads that say "No stories"?. This car appears to have stories already in its very short life. Well, at least you'd get the warranty.
Edit - price isn't too bad - here in LA a search of 2002 996's within 100 miles shows an average asking price of a bit over $60,170, and a low of $43,950 for an 83,000 mile C4 cab.

Is it a C2, C4, Cab? Remember that these cars are heavily optioned and that has a lot to do with the price. Make sure you know what options are on the car and what options are a "must have" for you. Under the hood should be a white sticker with the option codes. Lastly, certain options, such as PSM, can't be added after-and I would never own one without PSM, which is a personal preference. Others are extremely difficult or expensive to add. Figure out what is important to you and take your time looking. It took me four months to find the "right" car.

I downloaded the 996 price list on this site, i calculated the car with option worth $74,000 when new. the owner added a body kit and 19" wheel. Do the blue book reflects the market value of the car? I know 993 are selling way more than the bb value.
