Default Semi-OT, Fabspeed bypass pipes illegal at autocross (exceed 92 dB)

Over the weekend I was talking to a gentleman that had a beautiful 2000 996 with the cup aerokit. he also installed Fabspeed bypass pipes and their airbox modification. however his car came in at 102 dB on the meter exceeding the 92 dB limit. I'm kinda shocked because I didn't think the 996 would be that loud!

I'm curious though, could the airbox mod have caused the exhaust to be louder on the 996 along with those pipes? Anyone had their cars tested on a sound meter yet? it really sucks to have a sound limit at the autocrosses. If there wasn't one I'd look forward to running a straight pipe along with my megaphone
