What is option code 224 - "ABD"? I am looking at a 99 996. After looking over the records on the car. It has had a few RMS, but the engine was replace with a factory engine about one year ago cause of coolant consumption. So should I stay away from this car or not worry about the replaced engine. It does have a lot of extras I am looking for such as sport suspension, locking diff, traction control, motor sound package, and sport seats. It has 55k on the clock but only about 4k on the new engine. Asking 39,900.

I believe that is the code for Automatic Brake Differential. At low speeds this system can send power to a rear wheel with traction by braking the spinning wheel.

The fact that the engine has been changed is a positive thing. If you buy one with this mileage or less and it goes, you'll be paying for the new one.

Obviosuly I can't comment on the price but that year/mileage/spec in the UK would cost about £30,000 (GBP) as a matterof interest.

224 is Active Brake Differential or Auto Brake Differential as Ray said.

Mine is a UK Sport Spec with these codes - very similar to what you are looking at.
