Default Fuel Gauge problem

Hello,

My 996 (03' C4 cabrio) is having a stupid problem when the fuel level drops below 1/4 of the tank. The board computer states that there is no fuel inside the tank, so the remaining range is 0 (three dashes). Same indication I get from the PCMII b.c If I put less than 30 liters of fuel it still shows that its empty (three dashes). Most of the times if I fill it up it reads correctly, till the level drops below 1/4 again. As you understand, it works great when I go to the dealer Is it from the fuel level sender or from the gauge it self ?

I recall the dealer telling me some 996's have a fuel sender problem (or something like that). Might want to go to renntech.org and look at the TSB's.

After just speaking to my Contact at P-car, They will replace the gauge cluster, it is a very well know problem, in fact mine was changed after the first fillup of fuel, they will try and update the ecu, if that fails new cluster you will get!
