Default 996 VS 997

I've been trying to decide between the 996 and 997.
a 996 c4s versus base 997.
I keep reading that the 997 is significantly improved over the 996
But really are the two that different?
Anyopinions between the two cars

I'd take a 996 C4S over a base 997 anyday!!! That simple!

Have to agree with 40th. My ranking would be
1.997S
2.996C4S
3.997

Really depends on value. Yes the 997 is improved, but if you were offered a '05 S cab at $99k, or an '04 C4S low mile cab at $81k I can tell you the 997 isn't $18k better. The best value is the oldest-low mile car you can find, which are plentiful since so many are garage queens.

I have a different opinion. I would take any 997 over any naturally aspirated 996 except for the GT3.

My choice would be

GT3>997S>997>NA 996's

I think the old adage, "buy the latest model Porsche you can afford" holds as true for this new model as it does for the 964 to 993 and 993 to 996.

The only exception in my mind would be the 996 GT3 because that car is really a race car for the road.
