I've used this plan twice. I take my car to Tyson's Porsche and they honor the terms. I think I have a $100 deductible 48K Gold Plus. Highly recommended. For a bit less than $2k I have peace of mind should something really break...

That sucks. And some don't pay their claims anyway. Did you ever deal with getting money from a insurance Co, cause that's what they are. They are in the business to collect, not pay out, and that is what makes me hesitate.

I would have a "rainy day" porsche fund. Pay the $4750 to yourself into an investment account that is for warranty type repairs ONLY. You can approve everything and the odds that you would spend that completely in the "warranty" pariod is extremely low.
Why do you think Vegas is rolling in $$$. The house ALWAYS wins. There is the occasional winner that leaves with more than they spent, but rare.

I've easily gone through $2,800 worth of repairs on my factory warranty in the first four years (3 RMS, new PCM, MAF, a new wood piece, and some other minor stuff). What will happen in the next four years? To me it's worth the $$ for another four years of care free driving. I thought about just putting the money aside and investing it, but then you have to liquidate, tax implications, etc. I'd rather just pay and play.

Most of the aftermarket INS co's will not replace seals (RMS), trim pieces, radios (PCM), wear items (MAF), etc.
The main reason to have it is for major failure (engine and tranny).

Even the basic level covers seals, believe me I checked that. The gold plus also covers everything else that's failed except the trim piece (which actually I was the one who broke it
). It even includes the convertible top mechanisms.
To each his own, I just went through the thought processes and decided I'll enjoy my car more (hence drive it more) if I know it's still covered.

I'll check with him to see. It is the same policy company that many car manufacturer's use, so I'm not scared about my money and policy disappearing. BTW they covered (most) of the expenses of replacing a leaky engine seal (not RMS). To get the best rate you'll want to purchase the policy before your standard policy expires. I bought my policy at almost the last moment.
I'm happy with the policy. I didn't get an extended warranty on my last sports car (Corvette) and the engine went "poof" less than 1000 miles after my warranty expired. That was an expensive lesson... about 3-4x the price of this policy.

Here's a link to a company I'm familiar with. I know a dealership that will sell these contracts on any car that still has factory warranty on it - and they do cover seals, gaskets, and wear & tear. PM me if you're interested...

An EASYCARE.com coverage came with my purchase of a 2000 Carerra. Nice people, only they don't pay but about 30% of what is needed. Had a small leak from the transmission pan seal. After the $200 deposit, they agreed to pay $86 of a $482 repair. I'm waiting until it really becomes a problem.
I vote for self-insuring. Pack it into a money fund or even the INGdirect.com and let the thing compound. You'll be happier knowing that you approve all "claims." Unless it comes from the factory, it is only insurance and not a warranty. Good luck with it!
