Need some new rims? I've got some rims with winter tires on them from my S55 that I need to get rid of...

Hey, I used to live in Randolph (Shongum Lake) in the 70's...

Cheers

I had Falken's on my VR4 many years ago. I was tight on cash and needed a cheap tire. I must say while they did alright in the rain, their dry performance was average at best and they wore out almost twice as fast as the Michelin did. I don't remember what model they were but I think they were 245-45-17 if that helps. I learned that you get what you pay for. they were about $80 per tire cheaper. My 2 cents.

I got a CL 500 and the car will handle on virtually anything you put in there unlike P-cars but still I'd never put crappy tires on such a good car (on of the best, IMO). Its just not right 'cause tires are the only thing making contact to the ground... active suspension and all sorts of gadgets controlling the car for nothing... Remember a chain is as strong as it weakest link and in this case its a matter of safety and I love my wife and son too much to risk a blow out or aquaplanning to spare a few bucks...

Kiko - I would normally agree, but she only uses the car to pick up the kids 2 miles from home, She now loves her MDX and never even looks at the //AMG. I am going to sell it, but I still need rubber. That is why I am not putting great tires on it.

Check out the Bridgstone Fuzion line. Really a good tire for the price. I had 'em on my old car and liked them better of the OE pirellis.

Bridgestone Potenza RE730 and RE050 are relatively inexpensive. I would not get any Falken or less known tires since their sidewall construction can be shady and warranty usually run out quickly.

I like Nitto. The price is similar to Toyo or Falken, they have relatively long life and I also like the fact that Renntech uses them. I have used them before and can say the performance is very good, but still a step below the top brands.

Yup, Fuzion ZRis are what I run on my C32. Check how they stack up against S03s, Pilot Sports, F1 GS D3s and the lot of expensive performance tires. 300 tread wear rating designed and made by Bridgestone with numbers that put tires twice their price to shame in the performance department. Tirerack won't even list the test data on their site in order to keep them from cannibalizing sales from the big money group.

tires are one of the most important elements of the car...

i would suggest you stick with the established brands and their tried and proven tires.

you don't have to get anything fancy, pilot sport or a/s will be fine for your application.

I had many sets of Falkens in previous cars and all were great! Falken is owned by Sumitomo which is one of the bigger tire company in Japan. They are new in US so I think they are trying to get into the market by price.

Nope, I am not affliated with them whatsoever...

I put Bridgestone S-03's on my CLK55 AMG and I like them a lot better than the original Michelin Pilot Sports. Better in the wet and better in the dry.
