another tire question (real quick)
Car going into the shop on Friday and the dealer is out of PS in 285 sizes. (Told me all Porsche dealers are) and to go to Tirerack or similar. I found 285/35/18 and would like to replace my 265's in the back. Dealer said would work just fine and go for it. What do you think? Trying to order them tonight....

9.5? What rim is it? Haven't heard of any of the rims being 9.5". The side of your rim should be stamped with the offset and rim size next to the valve. You might want to check it.
FYI....the correct size tire (Porsche rec'd) for the rear is either 265/35/18 or 286/30/18 (not 35).

Don't do it !!
I put TOYO T-1S 285/35-18 on ththe rear, thinking that a .5" overall increase in diameter would not be that bad. WRONG. On top of the car looking like a dragster ( taller sidewall) the rear end was realy squirmy. I would do some tight S-turns and the rear end would be slow to catch up with the rest of the car. I even tried the tires at 51 psi, better but not good. The car was scary above 70 mph, do tthe rear not feeling planted. Dealer took the tires back and I have SO 2's on now; night and day difference. Just my account, PS tire may have a much stiffer sidewall, but the overall diameter is still increasing.

Just get the proper size in S02-As from tirerack. They are Porsche rated N3 and or the same tires that come on the Turbo S. Approx. same price as PS and you will be pleseantly surprised by the performance ans feel.

I have 265/35 on the back now.... i will inquire regarding the 285/30 tire..
I am only in need of replacing the rears, as the fronts are still in good shape. I would of liked to try bridgestone or toya but no need for 4 at the moment...

On my old '99 I went from 265/35 to 285/30 with no problems at all (the factory did the same thing I think in '02). The 265's always looked too small, like they were stretched to fit. A side benefit is that it'll now look like the front as far as how the tire sticks out a little from the rim and give you some protection against curb rash.

But I just cant decide if just the rears or all four with SO2's. Trouble is, much of it is on back order for the ps...
