Rob's point is right on the money. Go a little less for somebody that has cash in hand and is willing to transact NOW!

Another good point.

Or at least break even for the cost to put back to stock -

THIS guy was a moron.
Apparently so, because his strategy created a deadlock, i.e. you walked.

Chad.....I would glady pay $40K to you today if I was ready to pull the trigger on another 996 since I know what you have done and would like all of it. But I am not picking up another car (dedicated for the track) till next spring when we move back east so I don't have to transport another ride.

I would proably even have paid a bit more since it is more track ready than most.

Crap! Two months ago I would've jumped all over it for that price. It actually sounds kind of low.

Chad,

I would also buy your car for 40K. I think it's a very fair price... be patient and you will get the right buyer.

I have 2 people that are looking for a first time 911, I'm going to show them the pics of the car and let you know.

In August 2004 I saw an '02 996 with less than 10K miles and moderately equipped for $59.9K. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but it was close enough for me to make an offer. I offered $55K and I was willing to go as high as $56K. The Dealer was firm on his price and wouldn't budge. As of May 14, 2005 that car still sits on Len Stoler's Porsche lot in MD. The car is still listed for $59.9K.
