Purchase from an Auto Broker ?
New to the Forums ; enjoy all the info !
After owning a 86 944 Turbo for a few years, I am ready to move up to a 911.
Have been researching 1999's to 2002's. The Porsche Extended Warranty seems very desirable. However, pricing from a broker would allow me to get into a 2002 for approx $10K more than a 99 from a dealer.
What are the opinions here of the Porsches coming from the auctions ? I would not be able to see more than images &, of course, my mechanic would not see the car before I wired the funds. Porsche dealers have told me the auctions cars are one the dealers do not want to reatil.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks !

How much would a 02 cost from auction w/ low mi (<30k mi)? $50k or less? How would you know if the car hasn't been in accidents? I'd not trust carfax alone. How do you know the true condition of the car besides a couple of pictures? Seems like a huge gamble for a few thousand dollars in saving. Dealer auction usually are in person that allows you to inspect but not drive the car. If the seller is one that is very reputable dealer and they have inspected the car, I may have some confidence. Otherwise, you are buying a car with unknow history. Also, be wary of lease return cars as they are often not taken good care of.

I bought my '99 sight unseen (except for photos)from a broker. He got to drive it and said it felt fine. I took the plunge and have no regrets. It was a lease return out of AZ. Called the dealer there and they mailed me the service records. No RMS...
