Aluminum Bezels

Aluminum Bezels
I have read on previous posts not to use the Krazy glue to mount the aluminum bezels. I believe there were other suggestions such as 2-sided tape or silicone. Can anyone tell me if the tape should be thick like a foam tape or thin like a scotch tape or what kind of silicone to use. I like the idea of tape b/c I think it would be easier to remove the rings if I wanted to change them back. I guess with silicone it might be impossible to do that as the adhesive would destroy the finish on the black bezels. Thanx for any advise you can offer.

silcone adhesive will not destroy your bezels. I used silicone and was able to just remove one of the bezels for a cleaning project and remove the silicone then re-apply--no damage. Besides, I don't think you are going to want to go back to w/o them. They are a great addition to the interior.

Silicone is the only way to go, superglue will f- up your faces if it gets messy, ask me how I know. I too tried the two sided tape, total cluster-f. Re sureglue,if it does get messy, clean immed with acetone, armourall works great on any remaining residue.

OK So I bought the silicone and put the tach on 1st . Comes out great- the silicone is the way to go. I noticed the inside edge is a little rough but I don't think much about it. I put the speedo is next and it doesn't fit quite right. It's the right size but the shape is a little off so the bottom of the ring sticks out a little. I pull the oil pressure/fuel gauge ring out and it is badly scratched..THAT"S IT--I"M DONE-- I pull it all off-clean up the gauges and all is well. Going to send them back. These are not P-parts. I bought them at brindywine for $104. cheap yes?--Cheap yes!! i have never sent anything back b/4. I hope brandywine won't hassel me! I have no reason to think so we'll see!!!!

Try sticky-Tac, the stuff kids use for tacking papers to the wall, doors, ceiling, etc. Comes in a rainbow of colors. Take a tiny droplet, roll between fingers, place 3 along leach eading gage edge, press bezel, presto! Your done. Comes right off by just pulling hard. Doesnt damage anything.

Test fitting and polishing them with fine steel wool is key before installing them!
Performance Products has them in stainless - they look higher quality than the alum ones.
Definitely a nice upgrade on black-faced gauges.

We sell the oem version, and every set goes out with a full sheet of instructions. Can't understand why others are selling without any info. Sucks.
Silicone works well, as does thin double sided tape (not the foam backed). 3M for the tape, GE for the silicone. Always dry fit first. Steel wool '0000' grade works well to clean 'em up first.
Cheers!
