It's on the way...
I've just purchased my first Porsche, to arrive in the next week or so. I purchased it out of South Carolina and did my best to have it fully checked out before purchase. My question to everyone is once she arrives what should checked to assure that it's ready to roll as my "summer driver"?
It's a 99 Coupe with 65k on it. From my set of prelimary checks I've found it to be pretty solid, yet since I'm a Porsche newbie I'd love some insight on what this model is likely to have problems with. I'll post a few pics on this thread soon.
Thanks all!

1. Oil leak around bottom of engine
2. Check brake pads for wear
3. Check all fluids (engine, coolant, tranny, brake). Top off any fluids. Engine oil change every 15k or 2 yrs. Coolant is "lifetime", brake fluid is every 2 yrs.
4. Check suspension for bents, looseness
5. Check exhaust and heat shields for looseness
6. Check tire for nails and inflate air
7. Detail interior/exterior
8. Monitor garage floor for fluid drips for 2 weeks
If you've had PPI or have service records, some of the items don't apply. Enjoy and congrats!!

Beautiful looking car....and welcome to the board.
But......what in God's name is that little tiny spoiler looking thing affixed to the rear retracting wing?

BullBear: I hope so, as mentioned, I did my research in trying to find a "nice" car within' my reach, yet it's hard to shake the "I just bought a car I've never seen in person" stigma...

I agree. although it looks better when the spoiler is in the down position. When it is up, I am not so sure. Either way, still a great looking 996!

sirebral - Nice P-car!! Looks good, not sure about the sudo-spoiler though. I would recommend the following MODS ASAP!
Cosmetic MODS:
Bumper Plugs (if your state does not require a front license plate)
Painted Rear Bumperettes (you can get both of these at www.bumperplugs.com)
Clear Front Side Markers
Performance MOD:
B&M or OEM (both are identical except color - B&M is cheaper) Short Shifter Kit. You will LOVE it!

Thanks all for the warm welcome, glad to see I've found a friendly bunch. As fas as mods go... if it's like any of my other cars it will be full of them, and of course I'll continue to post the progress...

Great advice from all. I would simply add the following: In addition to "checking" the fluids, I would change out the oil and brake fluids unless you know for sure when it was done last. The car looks great. Good luck with it.
