Default 40th ann. 911....bargin of century???

the 40th ann. 911 is a beautiful car, esp with the gt silver, turbo front and nice wheels, not to mention the extra 30hp...is the 30 hp noticalby quicker than the base 996?....low mileage examples are under 70k now and perhaps can be bought for the mid 60s....is this the way the go or do you go for the 997 for low to mid 70s....i have driven the 996 c2 and the 997 but not the 40th ann...what do you all think??? any ANN. 911 owners out their???

these 30 ps are not a simple conversion such as an uprated ECU.
modified alloy induction system,
modified cylinder heads,
modified exhaust manifolds,
as well as an additional oil pump in each cylinder head.

as you can understand 996 345 ps is closer to performance of a 996 GT3 01 360 ps in a straight line, rather to any other normal 996 with either 300ps or 320ps....

I have one and love it! The extra HP is definitely noticeable.

I love it and it stands out from the "usual" c2 with the extra features.

Not to be a killjoy, but here's what I got from the above data:

320 HP (base 996):
0-100 kph: 4.8 sec
Vmax: 286 kph

345 HP (40th):
0-100 kph: 4.9 sec
Vmax: 290 kph

360 HP ('99 GT3):
0-60 kph: 4.8 sec
Vmax: 302 kph

A couple of things are funny with the other numbers. There was a whole range of acceleration times for the 320 HP, but there were only two for both the GT3 and the 40th. One shows the 40th to be a tenth of a second slower than the base Carrera (0-100), and the the only other number shows it all of a sudden to be a full second faster (0-200). What happened to all the in between numbers? No numbers for the road courses, either, a place where Porsches shine more rather than drag race numbers.

The 40th is a nice P-car, a commemorative car that has unique features sure to distinguish it from the base C2. Closer to the GT3 rather than the base C2, unfortunately, is not one of these features. My .02. Don't shoot me.

I have one and love it. Haven't spent a lot of time in a 996 without the x50 pkg so it's tough for me to compare. I bought my car a couple of weeks before the 997's were introduced. I got a fully loaded car for the price of a stripped down model..... NO regrets!!!

With the exception of the GTs and the Turbo..... the 40th is my favorite of all the 996 variants.

And in addition to Harris' list lets not forget the included mechanical limited slip differential on the 40th. I love mine! Have absolutely no regrets. Numbers mean nothing when you consider the full package. The 40 Jahre is true Porsche in its most pure form.

Probably one of the best all around 996 ever made, vastly underappreciated.
