Krylon 1401
Krylon 1401 Bright Silver, available at most Home Despot stores for 5-7US$,
is once again an almost exact match for touching up scratches and
scrapes for most "silvery" rims. (My 2002 C2 has the 18" rims made
by BBS).
I found out about this trick from some tire & rim shop (I always
learn something by walking to the back of the store). The guy
there claimed that it matches just about all silvery rims made in
Germany and Italy, and he was right.
It's certainly a much better match than the Guards Red
touch up paint I got form the dealer for the car's body (too much orange).
If you have gash, carefully sand or hammer any protrusions
into shape, and use a couple layers of body primer to build up the area.
(I am of course assuming that this gash is small and does not jeopardize the
strength of the rim). You can finish it with some clear coat, but I find
the results better without it.
1401 does NOT match antique silver rims, which are more yellowish.
Disclaimer: YMMV. Color batches vary. This is meant for
small touch ups (won't see the touch up from 5 ft).
If you need to repaint a larger area (1/2-1 a square inch?) you probably
need a professional
Hope this helps. .
