I've got a black car with the clear film on it too. It's a work of art if it's installed properly . It is by far the best investment I made. Here a couple things I learned:
1. You get what you pay for. Pay someone who's an expert. Ask to see some of their work on dark cars. I called up one installer and he told me he doesn't do dark cars, too difficult. Make sure you get an expert.
2. Not all clear films are the same. By that I mean, some films have an orange peel look to them. Others are completely clear. Go with the completely clear film, especially for a dark colored car.
3. Not all kits are the same. Some manufacturers use several pieces of clear film to cover the front bumper. Others manf. cover the entire bumper with just one piece. I prefer the one piece cover myself. It doesn't show any seam lines.
I live in Michigan and the winter's are real bad here. The car has gone through two winters now, it's a daily driver, and when clean it looks as good as the day I got it put on.

Here's one little story for you. I was pulling into a parking space at the office garage last winter and hit a spot of ice. The front bumper tapped the concrete wall. After close inspection the film ripped but the bumper was just fine. Installer cut the damaged film away and replaced it. Cost: nothing. It would have cost quite a bit to repair and repaint without the film. Do it!! You won't regret it!!
