Default Another mod! Highly recommended

Just got done with the install and a quick test drive to verify operation. Can't believe I hadn't done this before! Between this and the PSE I can't stop smiling when I drive.

Thanks to Todd (TD in DC) for sending me his duplicate SSK! This is an extremely easy install. Took about 1 hour and the most difficult part was getting those darn plastic bushings broken off to remove the old shifter. Other than that, piece of cake. I did mark the shift cables where they rested inside the sleeves so they went back in exactly as they came out. Off to go drive for no reason at all but for fun!!!!

Cheers,
Dell

It's the B&M SSK. It is so incredible. I don't think I can even describre it accurately. But,,,,,here goes. Instead of the long throw from gear to gear it feels like it only travels about an inch to N and then to another inch to the next gear. Literally, you could go through the entire range of gears (excluding R) without moving your arm and just moving your wrist. I can post a quicktime but not sure how to do host it. Filming it is a piece of cake.

Another thing, it feels like it goes in and out like notches instead of that long smooth sweeping gear shifting of before.

Best mod for the money. I loved mine. Changes the whole driving experience for the better. Makes the entire car feel more solid.

Hey Dell,

I am glad you like it as much as I thought you would. With the kit, shifting far better and safer provdied that you are using the proper shift technique (i.e., hitting neutral before shifting to another gear rather than going directly from one gear to another, which increases the chances of a misshift).

You will like it more and more over time.

With the extreme difference in feel, can you see why I was concerned about installing it before your first DE?

c70....there was a thread posted recently about B&M $199. Do a search.

Todd, totally understand what you said about the install post-DE! I love it now and can't wait to try it out at the next event after a little practive in everyday driving. Actually, just took the wife for a spin and had her try it out, she loved it too!

Hey -- I'll bite on that offer if your "unopened box" unit will fit in my early 1999 C2 Cab. I'm in San Diego and I'll pay the shipping. I can make your payment in any form you'd like.
