Default air bag dash strip

I am thinking of changing the airbag dash strip to arctic silver. Has anyone done this? Are there instructions on these forums? Any pics?

I've done it. The instructions on renntech require destroying the original strips. If you're patient, you can remove them intact. PM me with questions.

Just installed them - bitch of a job!
I worked very carefully and took my time, but just TOUCHING the leather dash with your tools or drill WILL leave a mark. AND there is a good reason for what appears to be way too many screws used to secure them. Without them (which will be the case for your new ones) the strips will not be pulled into the grove as far or as evenly as OEM.
All in all, they do look nice, especially with alum gauge bezels I also installed, but I wouldn't do it again. Way too many oportunities to mess up the dash leather!

I used the soldering iron method, and it is not that hard--just be sure to apply tape to protect the dash sections on either side! The screws pull out when they get hot, and it doesn't take much adhesive to hold the new bars in place--I recommend a glue gun.

This sounds like a real pita. Don't know if I want to tackle this although I really like the look

If you remove the side vents and the ducting under the dash that goes to the vents, you can get to them with a small ratchet. I was just too chicken to get a drill or soldering iron anywhere near my leather dash.

It's not exactly easy to do, but the work pays off when you're all done and enjoying the new look.
The soldering method works pretty good if you are confident that you have a steady hand.

We do them in all colors, and installation involves one of two options. Email me anytime: eric@bumperplugs.com
