My Carbon Fiber Hood Finally Came! * Now With Pics and 25% Pure Orange Juice :D*
Yay! It's Here!
The quality of the Hood is quite good and the carbonfiber weave is pretty good and prettymuch even all over.
The only complaint i have is that one of the corners has what appears to be a whiteish geling which i suspect is the gel coating they put on separating from the hood. that will probably be fixed when the paint shop does their sanding work and clear coat.
In terms of service, The Racers Group and Paul in particular were top notch and very co-operative (despite me buggin them constantly ). Shipping was very reasonable.
Nothing negative to say really, they're moving locations so there was some waiting time involved but i have no doubt that under normal conditions their service is excellent.
Bottom line: i would recommend TRG to other 996 owners. the hood is probably about 15 lbs as opposed to the stock one which is like what? 30?
i'll post pics after the hood has been preped and installed.
as far as other members have told me, there's no special process to it right?
just:
1) leave it in direct light to heat up the gel coat.
2) sand with#80 grit paper.
3) clear coat like normal. (is there any other special primer involved?)
UPDATE:
Havn't gotten my lazy *** to the body shop yet. They need 2 do some serious adjusting to the hood as you can see from the pics it doesn't sit right and is very lobsided.
Bonus (cause i'm a showoff )

ricer style at first. if i get fedup with it i can always change it.
i really want to get my car resprayed tho. if i go with something darker then it will definitly stay rice. if its a bright color then it will have to get painted.
shane, i didn't know kilrgt got a cf hood! what else hasn't he told me!

mods are too addictive..like lego for grown ups. my family and friends r just thankful i don't have an FD anymore otherwise they know i'd never leave my garage (or the 401 for that matter ).

Just remind me, what's the big advantage here? 16#, you'll never realize that on a street car, sorry to say. I'm sure it looks cool though. Don't worry, I can't stop modding either, hell I almost bought that 120$ gas cap!
BTW, I put on my FS bypass pipes this wknd, LOUD LOUD LOUD.
