How to disconnect rear spoiler?(installing TECHART II)
Hello. I have 02 996 C2 Cab and I already installed Techart II spoiler in the rear decklid but I have a problem with in dash computer, that is telling me that "failure spoiler control" every time my factory spoiler "goes up and down" this is what my car things, but it's no longer there. I laready taped 2 microswitches from the rear decklid that now is in "closed" possition but I do not know what else to do.
Found in someone elses post : "On the 2002 996, the rear spoiler circuit is tied in with the rear deck locking mechanism. There is no individual fuse for the spoiler. I disconnected the power to the spoiler motor (unplug it inside the rear deck and dissembled the rear deck & spoiler) but I'm being alerted (spoiler failure)by the dash computer when the spoiler is trying to go up or down."
Anyone knows how to fix this?
Thank you
Syavik

If you have OE wireing harness.......(that comes from the bay to the lid, to power fan, lamp, raise wing).......I believe you just need to replace that with the aerokit wiring harness (it does have power for lamp & fan but will not trip the breaker when it sences no wing deployment). I can't recall....it might be $70?
Good luck.
Good luck.

That's correct there are three different harness for the spoiler with/without brakelight. You must replace the stock unit or you will constantly alarm. If you are not running a light, you need the one that ends in-51, it costs around 50$. The brake light unit ends in -04, costs 120$. A third C4S aero harness is identicle to the -04, yet costs 350$!!
Do a search on renntech, in sept I did a wing and had a thread with the complete pn's. Good luck.
My wing used the -04 harness, worked perfectly.

Bringing up this older thread on my search. And kinda got a dumb question.
I just installed the aero kit wing on my 99. If I don't buy the special harness for it, can anything else bad happen other than that light turning on at 75 mph? Can this just be fixed with a small $.01 piece of electrical tape over the light like I did for my airbag light after installing my sparco steering wheel?

no problem, just tape over it and rock on.
