Here is my dilemma. Found a nice 2002 C2 with ~36k miles.
It had an RMS failure but Porsche replaced the engine with
a new one (which they claim is much better than the original).
It is Porsche Certified (which gives it 2 more years of warrantee).
Asking 54k (dealer). It has a couple of options like
the Sport Exhaust System and rigidity tuned chassis, 18" rims.
What specific things should I enquire about for the car?
I am also looking at a 2001, but apparently the 2002 are vastly
nicer than the 2001s. Comments?
The question now is, should I run towards the car, or run away as
fast as I can?
Thanks.

It was my car. Picked up GT3. Send me a PM and I would be glad to talk with you.
It was a great car, there is a short shifter in there also. The only reason I made the move was the opportunity for a GT3.
No problems since the motor replaced.

Depends on the reputation of the dealer service dept. RMS are prone to leak due to misalignment. If the dealer tech is good, go for it. If he is so so, I'd not buy a headache (even if it's got another 2 yr of warranty).
I'd suggest doing a search of the dealer on the forum or ask for input if you can't find it thru search. I think $50k should be a good price if the engine replacement is done well. Is the engine brand new or remanufactured? I think it's reman so I don't think it's as good as if it's new.

Thats the second coincidence... I also bought a car from a dealership and found out that the original owner was on this board. What a small world...
