Default Misha wing paint / prep

My body shop said that the wing needed a lot of work to prep / sand, etc before painting. It will cost me about 1800 to have the side skirts painted and put on (Porsche OEM-they said those were very clean and needed minimal prep at best), wheels painted and the wing prepped and painted. They are a reputable shop that will do great work. Any advice or other thoughts about the body work for the wing from someone else who has done one?

$1800 seems a bit high.

The OEM Side Skirts should not cost more than $300 even with very high quality paint because, like you said, they don't much work. Mine were done by Concours quality shop (Eurofinish, NA/)here with First rate german flexible primer and paint for $290, including materials. Not a speck of dust caught in the paint work

Mike, how much would they have charged to install them as well?

Install on the OEM side skirts(rockers)will not be more than 1 hour. Very easy. Did you get the PDF instruction from Chad996?

Yeah, but I would just assume have the body shop do it all and pick it up ready to go.

The prep work and paint should be no more than 400 for the wing.

I have to agree that the Misha wing needed a ton of prep work. I saw it at several stages of prep and think the wing could have come a bit better preped from Misha. But I am sure his production techniques are improving.

The wing we did required extensive additional work due to pinholes. But we got past it, just cost us twice the estimated labor. We typically do these for $275-$300 depending on wing and condition.

Full prep, flex prime and color/clear, all with our 14-stage process, and all to factory chemistry and specs. Perfect, every time.

Rockers? Usually factory rockers are simple enough, and we do them in the $375/pair range. Again, depends on condition they arrive to us in.

The pinholes were our issue as well.

I must say mine didn't have any pinholes to speak of, overall it was pretty high quality upon arrival.

I paid $900 for prep, paint, and install of my GT3 front and side skirts. And that is from the overpriced paint shop here in vegas that only deals with exotics...but they also so the best work and are the only ones reccomended by the dealer.

$1800 is WAY too much.

LOL! I thought the same the first time I saw Misha's name. Misha is a dude who designs and makes wings. Kirby and others have bought wings from Misha. His website is: http://www.996wings.com
