Default Dash Mod Hints

I've read as many past threads as I could find about changing the dash and removing the lower section. (Renntech and Rennlist) I need hints about a few things:
1) Where are the fasteners for the lower console? I plan on removing this once I move the heater.

2) Is there some special tool for removing the radio so I can reroute the heater wiring?

3) When the heat/AC controls get moved I know there is a different trim piece but does it simply mount using the same screws?

Thanks - all the info so far has been very helpful.

What exactly is it that you are trying to do? Not sure you want to change the dash DIY if that is what you mean. That is a nightmare project.

Most all of the outer trim pieces snap in and out. Just get your fingers behind a corner and start pulling. Once you get one off you can see the plastic tabs on the part and the metal inserts that they snap into. The lower console and the inner frame parts have screws with torx heads . Some of the console items snap in and out on posts. Just start taking things apart and you will have it all out before you know it. The radio requires 2 flat keys that go into the front slots and release the radio from the frame. I got a pr on ebay for $6.

Default Dash hints update

Thanks for the suggestions. Until you know how hard to push/pull you worry about breaking something. I've made progress by pulling harder.

I've moved the heat/ac console up to where the cupholder was. From reading other RennTech posts I think there is a mounting bracket needed to finish this. The lower console is stripped except for the carpeted side panels. I would like to put in the GT3 console piece in the lower console - the preferred route - to give me more leg room. The alternative is to put storage bins in the empty spots.

Do the carpeted trim panels covering the lower side console pull off or is there a hidden fastener?

Default Climate control

This forum has been a tremendous resource. So far I've replaced the marker lights, wired my V1, installed bumper plugs, replaced the ashtray, and removed the lower console. I have the replavcement "console delete" part coming from Suncoast but it is sourced from Germany.

I'm now remounting the climate control unit. The housing from the lower console will not fit and the cup holder slot didn't have threaded holes or the same support bracket. How do you mount the contol unit? I don't want it to flop around.

You 'll have to get another face trim for the climate from porsche and maybe see if they have another mount bracket if yours arent matching right
