Default Das Schlid -- possible group buy

A short while ago one of the members posted a comment about the Das Schild deck liner being heavy and dropping his deck lid unexpectedly. Wanting to buy one I was a bit concerned.

I sent an email to their Customer Service department and asked for weights. Corrie at Das Schild advised that the weight of the Das Schild for the 996 is less than 3 pounds and slightly heavier for earlier models because the lids are somewhat larger. She said they have not been informed of any problem with the lids falling and such a problem would be a major concern for them because they depend on customer feedback to continue to meet their quality goals.

She pointed out that they are new to Rennlist and as yet do not have any discounts in place but they are offering a 10% discount to all Rennlist members for orders placed in February. Orders must be called in to (800) 933-3375, telling them you are a Rennlist member to get your discount.

Here’s their link… http://www.dasschild.com/

I think it prevents hood outward denting from crap like suitcases that push against the hood, etc.

That reminds me of when I picked up my car for the first time. The sales guy opened up the front hood and showed me everything, then leaving it open went to the back and showed me the engine compartment. After closing the back, I walked to the front, and just let it fall, slamming into the car! The sales guy, a little white, quickly explained why that was not the smartest thing I ever did to my Porsche.

I could be interested. How much. Is it the same one for all 996 varieties?

They're $199.00-10% according to their customer service. I don't know what shipping is...probably about $15-20...
