Default x74 or x73

Thinking about this as my next mod, which one fits the C4S? I think it's the 74. What's the best deal out there right now?

X73 is available for C4S and Turbo (different P/N). Here's the best price I've found online.

C4s Surgeon. I just bought a new TT and will add the X73 this summer. Let me kwow when you decide on a place to buy and maybe we can get a "2 for" bargain from them. If so, I'll move up my timetable and buy now to save us both some $$. (Better yet, a group buy, but I'm way too lazy to try to organize one).

Guys, I'm going to be getting an X73 option as well, so let's make it a "3 for 1." Where are you guys seeing the best pricing right now?

Also, what are anticipated labor costs for installation?

Rasta, you probably ought to at least try the stock sport suspension first, I'm doing the x73 bc I do alot of tracktime in my car. If you're not driving your car 9/10 at the track w/o an instructor you probably don't need an x73, yet. Get the car first, try it out extensively, then if you still need more go for the x73, will run around 3k installed.

I'll certainly do that C4S Surgeon. I don't anticipate tracking the car at all, but I DO want to reduce that huge fender gap.

Do you think the X73 is overkill? I didn't think a 1.57" and 1.18" drop was over the top, but then again, I haven't modified cars before.

Is the concern with a X73 suspension that it ends up being too harsh a ride, too low for regular street use, or something else?

Many thanks for your thoughts.

Check with Gert at carnewal.com. His prices are good and he ships it to arrive with 2 days. Make sure you get the revised alignment specs as they will be different from stock with the lowered suspension. Gert can send you those also. Fully installed with an alignment was about $2,600.

Do yourself a favor and drive the C4S first, it's sport suspension is very rigid out of the box, my wife won't even ride in it. The x73 would be much firmer, probably not a good choice for you. The C4S sits an inch lower than a std 996 as it is, it is a very low car, I scrape all the time as it is. At any given time your car will be lower than 90% of cars on the road, the 'fender gap ' hype is overated. If you just want to lower it, you can do that with lowering springs, but you may experience bump steer at speed if the shocks bottom out. Porsche also sells a 20mm lowering kit with the RoW components, same price as the x73.
BTW Gert's price on the x73 was 2200euro, suncoast has it for 1800us.

FWIW - Carnewal & Suncoast watch each others prices on X73

If you track with R-compounds then X73 should be your choice.

Default my take...

I bought X74 from Gert last Fall for my 40th. As I recall, price was maybe $1,500 or so. Local P dealer hadn't installed one before and charged me $1,300, with the alighment, and that was after a healthy discount. Totally transforms the car. Love it! I could not decide whether X74 or PSE was my best mod...

The x73 is a little more involved, Gert told me the BEST he could do was 2200 Euros.

Gert's current price is 1,995 euros. He did have X74 on sale last year for 1,500 (I was going to buy it for my Targa), not sure about X73.

wknopf, can you elaborate a little more on the advantages of riding on an X74 suspension...and also post some pics of your car lowered. I was leaning towards the X73 kit, but now C4S Surgeon has me thinking whether I should go with RoW M030...
