Seriously Rasta, just drive the car stock for awhile before you go changing suspensions.

Rasta - I seriously researched suspension for my (former) Targa, and decided to go with X74 (but traded the car first). Here's some good information (I think these were past rennlist posts) on Gert's site: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p96079t.htm I've more recently seen comments here (do a search) and think more than one person has claimed X74 is a much better ride that M030. I also had a long call with Gert and he convinced me to go with X74.

Thanks for the insight. I had seen that post on Gert's site, but appreciate pointing me there as well.

For what it's worth, I just had the ROW M030 on my C2 replaced with the X74 yesterday. I could immediately feel an improvement in overall ride quality, in my opinion. On some road surfaces (bumps where the asphalt is raised) the X74 feels a tad harsher in the front end but not as harsh in the rear compared to the ROW M030. Handling is definitely improved (again in my opinion and after only my initial 100 miles with the X74). My service manager said the tech who installed the X74 and the tech that did the alignment both took a test drive and were raving to him about the handling of the car. I would highly recommend the X74 over the M030.

Sounds good - any pics that you could share?

I'm running ROWM030 and find it a little harsh. I considered X74, but thought it was just giong to be too low, and even harsher. I'd *really* appreciate a thorough review from you of the X74 being that you came from ROWM030. Thanks much!
Note: it might even warrant its own thread

Here's the best I can do for now. A picture of my car pre-ROW M030 and a picture post X74. (The car is on an inclined driveway.)

stiles_s -

I was in the same boat as you regarding trying to make a decision on whether to keep my ROW M030 or go for the X74. The problem is that ride quality is so subjective. The amount of firmness or harshness that is acceptable is totally the perception of each individual. From the posts that I had read on this forum about the X74, the general consensus seemed to be that those who had the X74 found it to be no worse than the M030 and maybe even better than the M030. For me, the selling point was my desire to lower the car more. The ROW M030 on my car did not really lower it (that I could perceive) compared to the standard suspension.

I haven't really had an opportunity to fling the car around yet but I feel the handling is better (a more 'on-rails') type of feeling than the ROW M030. I absolutely believe that the ride quality has improved overall even though this set-up is firmer. I felt that the ROW M030 was very harsh (particularly in the read end) on some road surfaces. I also feel some harshness with the X74 on bad road surfaces, however for me, this is something I can live with for the better handling and the lowered stance of the car (I have not yet scraped anything underneath). I have no regrets getting the X74. For me, it is the best choice.

Hows the clearance with the end of your driveway? I have an aero kit and it scrapes now. I need to find a way to deal with 1.5" drop!

Default Sorry, Rasta...

...digitally impaired so no photos. As far as driving, I don't track the car, but it just seems more "glued" -- and I know that is totally subjective. I like the look more, too. This is how the car should have been sold. I don't scrape on my driveway, but I have scraped on others. Just have to be careful.

Well, I just have the standard front bumper so I have a little more room to maneuver. My driveway is not bad, but the entrance/exit to my dealership is a fairly steep angle and I had no trouble negotiating it. I also had no problems with the speed bumps in the dealer parking lot. However, I have not had the X74 on very long. If you are scraping the front end now, that could be a problem....

Do search and read the threads I posted recently (with pics) on going from US m030 to X74. about $2K US from Carnewal (delivered in 2 days), $1100 US installed with alignment by independent Porsche mechanic. I'm very happy. Been to track once, and better street ride also. Looks good, too.

Are you guys daily-driving your X74 cars? There are a couple nasty parking garages around here that I'm not sure I could navigate. I'm sure tempted. IIRC the X74 springs+struts come preassembled so the swap would probably be super simple.

Yes. Does take an extra measure of caution/planning regarding steep drives and speed bumps, but I find not a big deal.
