RUF Supercharger Kit, all the Inf. you need to know
Supercharger for the 3.4l engine 3.6L and also for the 997:
"RUF upgrades all naturally aspirated Porsche 996 and 997 Carrera for more performance.
Many Porsche 996 and 997 Carrera owners would like to have additional horsepower for their vehicles. RUF provides the solution! RUF‘s bolt on Compressor Kit, which includes a supercharger with intercooler, provides inproved acceleration, torque and maximum speed. Horsepower and torque are increased throughout the RPM range.
The compressor kit contains a centrifugal compressor, which is driven mechanically by a Poly-Rip belt. The maximum boost is 0,5 bar; the fuel preasure remains standard. The engine receives a new intake manifold, modified injectors, sports catalytic converters und a modified electronic engine management. The watercooled intercooler has a cooling water circuit with an electric water pump from the water cooler in the front spoiler.
The 3.4 liter engine has a performance of 360 bhp (265 kW) and a torque of 400 Nm; the 3.6 liter engine has 380 bhp (279 kW) and 420 Nm. The supercharged 3.8 liter engine of the 997 Carrera S provides 415 bhp (305 kW) and 440 Nm torque.

4.7 sec., 0 – 125 mph (0 – 200 km/h) in 15.8 sec. Maximum speed: 187,5 mph (300 km/h).
The Compressor Kit fits to all 996 and 997 Carrera with rear- or four wheel drive, including manual gear box or tiptronic S.
The Widebody Kit compliments the increased performance of the Compressor Kit. Included are a RUF designed front spoiler, front and rear fender flares, side skirts and a rear spoiler inspired by the „Duck Tail“ from the legendary 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The Widebody Kit also fits the 996 GT 3.

Ruf is known to be the best working in Porsche engines. They claim much less horse power than EVO and at much higher price, but I believe their work to be far more credible than any other tuning company.

Thats $20,000 -$25,000 US for a SC, including the install on todays exchange rate.
Huh, I don't get the point. Why not just buy a used turbo? According to the Porsche web site, you can get a used turbo for $75-$80K, with an extended warranty. That way you get a Porsche warranty.
I think the point behind the EVO is that its $10k.

Extremely poor performance figures. 15.8 seconds to 125 mph? Takes 4.7 seconds to get to 62 mph? Did they forget to put the poly belt on the compressor pulley? Something is wrong with those figures. They are not even close to what you would get with more than 7 psi of boost. Better check them again.

0.5 BAR is 7.25 psi. It has nothing to do with claims, but reality. A properly tuned 3.4 with 7.25 of boost will easily get to 125 mph in less than 13 seconds with a head wind. It is impossible to take as long as you quoted to get to 62 mph unless you are going up hill. I am sure you must have been given some bad info or the RUF blower is designed not to connect to the intake.
Also, you cannot compare the speed of a 996 GT3 with a supercharged Porsche with 7.25 psi. It is not fair to the GT3.

I´m comparing both cars because , both make the same 360HP, don´t see why not

Then your HP figures are wrong also. Putting 7.25 psi of boost into a 3.4 , 3.6 or 3.8 Porsche engine will at minimum, increase the HP by 40 -50%. For example, putting that kind of boost in a properly tuned 3.4, you would increase the stock 300 HP to more than 450 hp very easily. This same car would do 0 - 62 in less than 4 seconds and 0 -100 in less than 9 seconds. This is not just claims, but reality.

I can understand your doubts, in 1998 I had a Turbo system on my 2.5L Boxster with 0.6 BAR making close to claimed 300Hp . It made 40000Km and than the engine blown. Not sure if the bolt on Turbo system was the cause, but it might have been.

Well, if that is RUF's own figures, then either their marketing people got it wrong or their design must be pretty poor if the performance figures they claim are accurate. I still say something is wrong with the numbers. Also, since they claim a higher top speed, they must have increased the redline of the engine.

I believe the EVO system limits the red line to 6500Rpm , am I right? If so, would the top speed be limited too? I ask this because my car when running at 301km/h / 187Mph on the speed cluster(which might be 285Kph real), makes 7100Rpm
Ruf doesn´t change anything on the gearbox ratios, so this claimed real top speed of 300Kph must be achieved at a very high Rpm .

The standard rpm limit that EVO uses is 6800. This gets some practice getting used to, but it forces you to shift into the maximum torque of the next gear, allowing you to maintain power through the shifts. It also allows more boost at lower engine speed, increasing the power in the low end. EVO, as far as I know, make no claims as to performance, but first hand experience blows RUF's claims out of the water. Their stock boost is around 6 psi at 6800 rpm.

^ i thought the turbo swap was more like 40 grand. 30k for the motor and the rest to install and put in the egas etc..
non the less, those performance figures are almost the same as stock...at least with respect to the 0-60mph...
maybe the sales guy copied the wrong chart or something.
the warenty is interesting tho, doesn't evo also give you 1 year limted parts
