Default Bridgestone S02-"A" vs. Michelin PS2

I know many of us had the older Bridgestone S02 tires at some point and from what I gather the S02 was a great tire.... the new Michelin PS2 (vs. the Pilot Sport "RIB") is also getting very good reviews...

Just curious how many people have tried the NEW Bridgestone S02-A (vs. S02) and how they compare with the PS2 tires from michelin.... the S02-A is the new and improved Bridgestone....

cheers
Pete

Actually, the S-02A has been out for at least 5 years now. But, Porsche only started installing it as of MY 2002. It's a great tire but so is the PS2. The PS2 only has a slightly softer sidewall which may give you the impression the car is wiggly. Both perform very well in dry and wet conditions. If you're looking for stock 996 sizes, I'd just go for the S-02A as the PS2 is not available in proper 996 sizes.

YES, I just tried looking for PS 2 Rib in size 285X30X18, tire rack said that it's only being supplied exclusively to Porsche service centers. When I called the local Porsche Service center, they said 40 days wait and it's $120 more than tire rack price.

thx for the feedback... my rears are going... maybe another 500 miles left on them and was thinking about swapping out all tires for PS2... but given the sidewall issue that is definitely a concern. After having the S02-A for a full run I can say it is a phenomenal tire and blows away the Pirelli... turn in is crisp, high speed motoring is a dream and noise is not bad at all.

A softer sidewall is definitely not what I'm looking for

There is no PS 2 Rib. It's either PS Rib or PS2.

Excuse my mistake. I meant Michelin Pilot Sport Rib N1. The 285X30X18 particularly that is not available.

I have s02-a's and they are excellent. A word of caution... check the air pressure frequently.

I had a blowout (rear) because of low pressure (determined later). I had called AAA to simply refill the tire, because it appeared I had some low pressure. The driver thought so also. He was pumping air and it kept escaping. He put his hand under the tire and the entire tire was almost severed in half.

The good news is ... I was going 75 and the car tracked beautifully to the side of the road. I would recommend them.
