Definitely a problem with your vehicle. Have it checked. Nothing like that here.

I know what he is referring to. I have had two 996s and on occasion you hear a metallic noise on shut off. It is not every time. If you guys listen carefully (turn the radio off, etc.) you will hear it. It definately happens once in a while.

It takes the radio a few seconds to shut off after you turn off the car. Maybe it's bad music ;-)

Not if you turn it off before you turn off the engine!

I have the same problem... If you have the clutch engaged prior to shut off you won't get the clanking noise. I took it in twice for this and they said it was normal for the DMF to rattle and have some sort of movement at shut-off. I thought this to be strange bc other porsches didn't sound like that at shut-off.

You should take it in and have them take a look. let me know what they find.. The techs in Canada might be more competent then the ones we have hear..

Does it happen after you've driven it pretty hard?

I hear the same sound sometimes. Also hear it if I get close to stalling it starting from a stop and not giving it enough gas (e.g. when parking). Let me know what you find out.
