Default Tire Advice Needed

Since our rear tires wear at about twice the rate as fronts, do you replace just the rears every other time, or do you always replace all four tires at once? I have always replaced all four, but am wondering if it's necessary. Application is street driving, occasionally spirited.

that tire wear seems almost early 993-ish

it may be your alignment or driving style, they should not wear at that rate.

however, to answer your qiuestion, it is not a problem to replace only one pair at a time, just make sure they are all the same brand/type.

I go through the rears twice as fast as the front. 10k miles out of the rears and about 20k front. I just replace the rears and leave the fronts when needed. I do need all four in the spring. Still can't decide on PS2 or Ribs. Any suggestions?

Make sure your alignment and wheels are balanced first...Do less on the burnouts and drifting . If your going to get just the rears, it would be best to stick with the same brand, tread design as the fronts. If your going to switch to a different type of rated tire, compound, or weather tire, do all 4 at the same.

Oh yeah...if you need a smoken price on tires...PM me.

Thanks for the responses. I will replace the rears only, and check the alignment when it's time for all four again. I thought the two rears for one front wear trend was normal for 996s, too.

Sorry, I can't help with the PS2 or Ribs question, as I am running S03's. I hope someone else steps in here.

Both RIB and PS2 are excellent. There was a long thread somewhere. Do a search.

Rib is symmetrical, PS2 is not. Rib has stiffer sidewalls, PS2 softer, noticeable on a daily drive on average roads. Can't say I notice a diff on the track. You'll have advocates for both.
