My clutch squeaks a bit when depressing or releasing at a moderate speed. I hear the squeak even with the engine off. Does anyone know if the clutch (whichever link or pivot that is the culprit) can be lubricated without dismantling? I have about 75,000 miles on this clutch and it works fine (albeit a bit stiff) and figure I won't need to replace the clutch until around 100,000 miles.

i think its the spring on your clutch pedal inside the car??? mine squeaks a bit... no mechanical issues... i just need to lubricate it a bit, maybe even replace that spring if i won't quiet down... but my car is primarily a track car so it doesn't bother me....

It really doesn't sound like a 'spring' type of noise. It sort of sounds the same as when you have a glass of water, and wet your finger and rub it around the rim. It's almost a pure tone.

It can't hurt to try lubricating the pedal inside though. Is the spring easy to locate?

It's either the master or slave clutch cylinder!

Do you really think so? It makes the noise when the engine isn't running, so I doubt it. It really sounds like a hinge of some sort that needs lubrication.

Yes, I had the same on my car and it was heard both when engine was running and switched off. I know, since the pedal assembly bushes were changed first, without the squeeking subsiding.

Does it always squeak when depressed? In my case if I execute a fast shift, I don't hear the squeak. If on the other hand I depress and release the clutch pedal slowly, I hear it. I'm going to bring it to the attention of the service tech on my next checkup which won't be until June.

Same here. If I press the pedal very quickly - no squeak.

Crawl down under the dash and depress the pedel with your hand. Look and listen from where the noise is coming from. If you hold the piston that goes through the firewall while pressing and the noise changes, then it is most likely that part of the mechanisim. DO NOT greese the piston (push rod) You can also test the movement of the spring while the pedal is on the flor.

It's probably just the clutch pedal assembly inside the car. No need to scare the man!

I had the same problem taken care of under warranty. The techs replaced a couple pieces of the assembly (I guess it was a slow week) but it's probably sufficient to just lube the pivot point.

No intenetion to scare you! Repair was covered under extended warranty so I don't know how much $$$.

Paul, there is a TSB that deals with Clutch pedal noises including squeeks. It's available to contributing mebers at renntech.org.

Yea its a simple fix, mine was doing it right out of the showroom......they simpley lubricated it, and all was good...well untill the RMS but thats diffrent thread...HEHE
