I finally had the opportunity to drive my '04 C4S cab in the snow, using the Blizzak LM 25s from Tirerack. What incredible traction and control! This car handles snow and ice like nothing I've driven to date (including my 4x4 SUV). I had originally ordered the Dunlop SM 3s, but couldn't wait any longer, so Damon talked me into the more expensive Blizzaks. This upgrade was definitely worthwhile.
On another note, I also completed the adaptation and install of my hardtop (see another thread on renntech.org), and I can't say enough about how solid and quiet it makes the cab feel, which is especially appreciated in winter driving.
All in all, I'm a happy camper--now I just have to watch out for the oblivious idiots sharing the road with me!

I too have been impressed with the Blizzaks LM-25's (on a c2 though), however, I am not sure they are much of an upgrade over the Dunlops. I have dunlop M2's on my wifes 3 series BMW and this car is also handles extremely well with these tires. The weight distribution is different enough in these cars to make a direct comparisons of the tires, however, I don't think the Dunlops give up much, if any to the more expensive Bridgestones. When you factor in the money the Dunlops are almost impossible to beat.
I also agree now the biggest problem is avoiding the other idiots on the road that either (a) don't have the proper tires, (b) don't have the proper sense how to driver or (c) both (a) and (b).

I put some Blizzak WS-50's on my MR2 Spyder and they worked great. I now have the M2's on the 911 and so far they seem just as good. Let's see what happens when we get some real snow...
