Default GT3 engine in 996 ?

Does anyone knows if it is possible to put a GT3 engine inside a 2002 996 C4 tiptronic ?

Yes, but you may have to change the tranny as well.

Since doing either will void your warranty, I would suggest Supercharging it. You'd get more power.

The tranny is the same as the 996TT tiptronic so it will cope !
I prefer the GT3 engine because of the conception (dry sump)

why not just add dry sump to the motor instead?

penguin,

Should I ask what happened to your WRX? Long and sordid story or sudden, abrupt ending?

if you can afford to do so, yes its possible (not sure if it will hook up to the automatic tranny tho) but the engine will fit (even into a boxter)... but its like a 60 thousand dollar engine....you could destroy 3 or 4 normal 996 engines for that price...

if you plan on keeping your car a long time, then sure, why not? but otherwise, you're probably better off just working with the original block. (RMS leaks are far less common then this board makes it seem )

unless you plan to race 24-hr enduros on slicks w/ a full-race setup, the standard integrated-drysump is enough. a blower is prob a better option than a transplant.

It can definitely be done...the real question is why (since there much cheaper options out there), which brings me to the second question, how much are you willing to spend???
