Default 996 fault code- 1670? electric switchover valve intake

Anyone had any experience with this one?

The shop said not to worry about it until I notice a drop in gas milage and or serious throttle response issues.

They think intake valve is sticking in position intermitently etc..This is what is setting off - o2 fault code as well.

Any thoughts?

Which valve is it? I don't know of OBD code of 1670. If it is the CHANGEOVER VALVE, you should have it replaced and is both electric and vacuum operated. This valve controls the resonance valve on the intake tube, and it is necessary for proper function of the intake control. The valve is a piece of cake to replace.

Now, if it is an INTAKE VALVE....such a probelm would not give the technician a code. Let us know EXACTLY what he said the problem is and what performance problems if any, you notice.

printout said 1670- electric switchover valve intake. He cleared the computer and then after resart the 2 o2 codes cleared but the same 1670.....came back on.

No noticeable performance issues as of now, engine pulls strong to red line and sounds fine.

If the light comes back on this week i will have them repair the valve. He said it should only be a 1-2 hour job....
