ROW springs for C4S
#2
On the C2, the ROW M030 has a touch less understeer than the US M030. Don't know if its the same for the C4S. It will lower the car somewhat, a very subtle change that is hard to appreciate.
Personally, I would not do it. I'd go for the PSS9's or the X73. If at all. The stock sport suspension on the C4S will be more than you'd need given your requirements of DD and lots of track

Try to differentiate that there are several performance sets of springs and shocks for a C4S.
And there are two different stock sets of springs for a C4S; a US version and a ROW - rest of world - version.
And the ROW is not a X73 or ROW M030 or PSS9.

I think the C4S handling is pretty good for street use but wouldn't mind lowering it a little if I could avoid making the ride too harsh. Has anyone accomplished this? Is this what you are after too, C4S Surgeon?

The S.S. M030 is more than adequate for DE's...having said that I'll have to say ROW M030 is what porsche intended for the car, and US regulations must have forced them to go with the "softer" version, and thus ROW M030 is a safe bet (I don't like to second guess with porsche engineers).
However, I think PSS-9 is better as it allows for aggressive negative camber, for various R-compounds, and if you wish, even slicks, to get the max. benefit out of those. secondary benefits include lowering the center of gravity and freedom in suspension settings. I would be curios to get some feedback from 996tt owners who track with pss-9 and R-compound tires.

IMO there would not be that much gained by going to the ROW springs as on the C2 the rates are the same for the M030. You will get a little less sway due to reduced COG. I personally like the ROW for street driving, but find it a bit soft for the track. Given that I track the car 10% of the time the ROW is probably the best compromise for me. Even though there are a little difference in the shock valving you will not have any problems just putting springs in as I am asuming the difference in spring rate are not present. The shocks for the US probably dials in a little more understeer as the US m030 for the C2 does that too. I know AJ- USA does sell the springs by themselves so you can call them if you want a set. Probably cheaper than going to the dealer.

The only difference between the US C4S and the ROW C4S suspension is ride height. And, at 10 mm rear and 20 mm front, a negligible one at that. Manufacturing and installation variance is plus or minus 20 mm. Firmness, rebound is the SAME. The ROW C4S rides firmer and the US C4S softer? That's what you can tell the wife when you order the suspension, or what you can tell yourself if you've already bought it, but it will definitely NOT be true .

You need to read this to understand the differences between the factory US and ROW 996 suspensions:

Palting; after changing the new C4S springs to ROW C4S springs, I measure exactly 20mm front and 10mm rear height drop at the fender wells. And very distinct drop in ride height appearance. I can park it next to any C2 or C4S or Turbo at the daeler and see the difference across the lot. Everybody else comments that its been lowered immediatly. (And you could hardly drive it any lower because I do get frequent front spoiler scrapes.)
