Question Narrow body offset Question

Wanted to know if the following wheels will fit my 99 C4 narrow body. Looking to get some snow tires and wanted to clarify if this set will fit?

Snow tires on factory "solid spoke turbo twists" Fronts wheels are 8x18" (50et) offset, front tires are 225/40VR/18. The rear wheels are 18x10" (47et) offset, rear tires are 265/35/VR18.

and

summer tires on 18X11" (45et) and two 18x8"(50et) "hollow spoke factory turbo twists"

Thanks in advance

I don't think the rears would work. Both, 10" (ET47) and 11" (ET45) were designed to work on widebody 996's. What works on the narrow body is 10" (ET65).

An 18x11 in a factory wheel would have a proper offset for a narrow body of 63mm.

Just spoke to Manhattan Motor Cars in NYC and the service guy told me that a (47et) offset, rear 10' rim with 265/35/VR18 tire is ok. So I'm confused now, is the 47et ok. Should I go for it or not?

Of course he will tell you it is ok. But to get the proper wheel you need to go with the 65 offset in the 10" and 63 in the 11".

The Boxster can handle the 10" rim with the 47 offset (what porsche has for the 986)

Rears according to Porsche:
986 8.5" 48 9" 52 10' 47
996 (NARROW) 10" 65 11" 63

Uh, Porsche never specified a 10" wheel for the 986. The following is what was fitted on the Boxsters rear:

7" x 16" - ET40
8.5" x 17" - ET50
9" x 18" - ET52

The 10" with the 47 mm offset is strictly approved for the widebody 996. That's not to say it doesn't work on some other models including the Boxster.

Here's the deal. The 65 mm offset 10" wheel sit very close to the rear fenders. The 47 mm 10" wheel will come 3/4" farther out from that. Do you want a wheel that potentially might cause the tires to rub? I wouldn't.

Actually Porsche DID specify that (for the sport techno). Take a peek at the Summer Wheels and Tires Teq2004 bulletin.

For the Rears:
8.5" is 48
9" is 52
10" is 47

You are right, I see it now. My bad. I wonder why these sizes were not specified before 2004. I was going by memory and sorry about the confusion.

No problem. Just wanted to make sure I was "citing the source" so there was no confusion either.

Cheers,

Nope, those are for the 986.

The 996 narrow are as follows:
Rears: 10" is 65 and 11" is 63
