Default Help..is this 996 a good deal?

I came across a Florida car, here are the specs:

2003
10k miles
XAA - GT3 aero kit
030 - chassis
XLF - sport exhaust
p77- sport seats
Heated seats
476 - PSM
680 - Bose
411 - 18" Carrera wheels

and a few other things, all for right at $62,000

Is this a good deal? Anything I should look our for? Thanks in advance for your help.

K.

Get the VIN # and run a carfax on the vehicle.

If it hasn't been in any accidents, and the engine is "dry" that sounds like a great deal

Default What do you mean by dry?

Thanks but what exactly do you mean by "dry"?

I did do a carfax and came back clean, no accidents, apparantly the body is in excellant condition, owner can't find any real chips or anything.

too much but thats probably his asking price

i say aim for a sale price of mid 50s MAX. espeicially since its almost 2005, and in 6 months My06 will be out, and the 997s are rolling out.

Definitely too high...a 2003 with 10K miles is a "average to high miles" 2 year old Porsche. As suggested, mid 50's would be reasonable.

A near new 2005 997 "Introductory" Seal Grey Coupe with 620 (perhaps hard) miles was reported as sold on eBay for $68,600. Still a very good buy of a MSRP $79K car.

Default Aero Kit question

Thanks for all your help and information...does the fact that this has the factory GT3 aero kit, which I understand is around $5k (not installed or painted) influence the pricing much? If I purchased a similar 996 without aero kit and then had to add it after the fact, I may wind up spending more?

For me it has to be a aero kit car, I like the look too much compared to stock 996.

I don't consider 10K miles over 2 years average to high milage. I drive my 2003 4CS along with my Yukon XL and have 20K on the Porsche with "average'" driving to work only several times weekly.

10k miles in two years is above average? C'mon guys get real! These cars are meant to be driven and not to save them for the next owner. What is the point of keeping these cars in the garage? I got 38k on my 2002 hopefully will put 2k more before the end of the year!

Most high end semi-exotic and exotic cars from the Southern Florida area i've found usually always have very low mileage.... so much money there... and people always want to have the newest and best thing to outdo their neighbor that has last years model <g>... so for a florida car, 10k miles seems about average for what you describe.. now if the car was from Montana... that'd be another story...

another nice perk about southern florida cars, is they are usually filled with every option for that year... many deca millionaires could care less, and just go in the dealer, asking for all options available, cost no, option, then they trade it in a year later, and don't care what they get for it... even though they lose their shirt.. and sweater, and pants too

I completely agree on the mileage thing. I have about 9400 miles on my 2003 so what you are saying basically is I'm driving a dead beater that is worth next to nothing when I sell or trade it because of my insanely high mileage ??
Outside of a diesel engine I couldn't think of another engine that can go long into the 6 digits. And more importantly most of us take great care of these making them all the more valuable and able to be driven longer.
